I decided to go with a different approach for this contest than others. I tried to stay away from the traditional ideals of good and evil, and I tried to stay away from the normal colors associated with those as well. The result is the piece above.
The idea behind this piece is that time is both good and evil. Without time, life ceases to exist. The fourth dimension of space is gone, plants will not grow, and progress is not made. Time is necessary for life to be. However, it is because of time that life ends. Trees wilt and people die.
In a very delicate, musical balance - much like the ideas of general relativity - hangs the existence of time.
wow. that's really good. and I like the idea behind it. Time is both a gift and a curse. I like how the earth is miniscule against the gears, like saying that time is something bigger than just us?

Everyone is born a lefty- you turn righty when you commit your first sin
I do like your reasoning behind the idea Your lighting is spot on as always, though I think the painting style perhaps doesn't suit the object. The hard, mechanical nature of the cogs would be better drawn using more precise line control, rather than freehand brushwork. This picture might speak out better if it was drawn with a vector program, perhaps?
zephio-kun i like the design on this one 83 it makes it look really well...*tries to find the word* immortal? i duno but it does make a great concept 83

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
